Iris Thread Play

Learn how to embellish a photo-transferred original watercolor iris (provided by Wendy)
with thread and crayon to enhance and add depth. These techniques can be applied to
traditional appliqué projects.  Students will also learn Wendy’s unique method for putting
on a mock piped oval to frame this or any piece of appliqué. The completed project can be
made into a pillow or a wall hanging.   Students should have some experience with free
motion quilting.

Quilt Labels

Labels are important for the documentation of old and new quilts. In this three-hour
workshop, students will learn various techniques to create labels for quilts. Students will
leave this workshop with three completed labels and ideas for many more. Come and
learn about inking, painting and stenciling labels.  Suitable for beginning to advanced
students.  No sewing machine required.

Stained Glass with Crayons!

If you have tried to do stained glass with bias tape, paper piecing or hand appliqué,
you will love the ease and simplicity of this technique.  Leading is cut of out black fabric,
fused to a piece of fabric and then artistically colored in with crayon.  Make a stained glass
quilt from just two fabrics!  No need to sorry that the leading isn’t covering the individual
stained glass pieces.  Students will have three designs to pick from, an Iris, a dove or an
angel.  No Sewing machine required.  Sewing will be done at home.  Suitable for
beginning to advanced students.
